Animation is one part of my creative life. I also write original songs, musical plays and comedy—and enjoy bringing those stories to life through performance.

What happens when the President of the United States decides to fight the end of the world? In my original musical comedy, former weatherman Ben Storm faces biblical signs, an increasingly anxious staff and a visit from the angel Gabriel—then orders a defense shield to hold off Armageddon.

Performed at St. Petersburg’s Music and Theatre Gallery, The Big Finish brought together my writing, original music, lyrics, direction and performance in a comedy about power, human folly and the ultimate deadline.

The Importance

Ernie Kovacs’ inventive, offbeat comedy inspired this play, which I wrote and performed at Tampa’s Gorilla Theatre. Portraying Kovacs gave me the chance to bring his life and wonderfully zany humor to a live audience.

For me, writing and performance go hand in hand: finding a character’s voice on the page, then discovering how that character comes alive on stage.

From the review

“…Tampa actor Sean Sanczel, who is of Hungarian descent, wrote this hilarious, insightful play. He also portrays Kovacs. It turns out to be inspired casting…”

“…Sanczel weaves the narrative with not-to-be-missed segments of Kovacs’ zany humor…”

“…Sanczel’s revival of Kovacs’ comedy is brilliant…”
